Corona

We hung on to the bottles, we’d get some money back
5p for each bottle, we’d store them out the back.
We didn’t have much money, Corona was a treat
A bottle full of colour, so bubbly and so sweet.

Cherryade was glorious, fizzy and bright pink
Others said the orange used to be their favourite drink
I still can feel those bubbles as they burst inside my nose
And the stains would last forever if we spilt it on our clothes.

Now Corona is a virus, but those memories remain
We watch the chaos spreading across China and now Spain
Wouldn’t it be lovely if we could make this trouble stop,
With a glass of my old favourite, dandelion and burdock.
