Covid Anniversary

Covid Anniversary

Well it’s not a celebration, and the problem is worldwide
So many folk have suffered, so many folk have cried
It’s acknowledgement of all the dead, the sadness and the pain
Remembering how the NHS worked hard, did not complain.

The supermarket workers, the drivers of the bus
Who coped with all the stresses and never made a fuss
Includes many unnamed workers the post, the milkman too
For helping hands and service, gratitude extends to you,

The kindness of your neighbours, the contact with your friends
And aid from those you didn’t know, the list it never ends
So let us take a minute, to remember all who’ve  gone
Say thanks to all the helpers and hope Covid war’s soon won.

I have always written poetry but when my husband died suddenly I used it as a kind of therapy. I don’t usually share these unless I feel they will help someone in distress. The ones I share are mostly humorous intended to bring a smile in what I feel can be a very lonely world... I have written four booklets and now a Corona chronicles which is just twelve poems writ while I am in jail...oh sorry I meant lockdown. Am on my way for a second booklet.. Trying to make folk smile and take a minutes release from these difficult times helps me forget my sight problems..
