Dad

Dad

I’m told of your existence
I’ve seen your picture too
It bothers me a lot that
I don’t remember you

We might have gone out walking
You may have held my hand
Perhaps you read me stories
About a foreign land

I think about you talking
Of what you might have said
I cannot hear your voice though
There’s nothing in my head

I always missed your presence
My friends all had a Dad
At times it made me angry
But mostly I was sad

I wish I could remember
Some little piece of you
So I could just hold onto
The person I once knew.
