A Christian month, December,
Our happy time of year,
When Christianfolk remember,
With carols ringing clear.

A time of all thanksgiving,
With presents from a tree,
A blessed time for living,
For all there is to be.

For children in the morning,
With eyes so open wide,
And parents who are gifted,
With thoughts of tearful pride.

A time to whisper, quietly,
To loved ones gone before,
” I love you”. Whispered silently,
Is heard at heaven’s door.

A time of hope fulfilling,
As the closing day draws near,
And with the help of man, God willing,
A happier New Year.

I am a 71 year old retired coal miner, who spent 30 years working underground. Having time on my hands, and in order to keep my brain exercised, I decided to try to write poetry and put down on paper some of my life experience, and my hopes, dreams and other thoughts. I also do a little gardening, but I am hopeless at housework. Much to my wife's displeasure.
