The English Garden Party

The English Garden Party (In Perth, Scotland)

Summer dresses wafting in the breeze,
Sunday best if you please,
small talk, flowers, and honey bees.
The sun’ shining  to warm the day
while people smile and say,
“At least the rain has stayed away”

There’s  a cake -and candy-stall
and tables set for tea.
There’s croquet on the lawn,
and a box for donations,
as nothing’s free.

The gazebo’s full of the old folk
retreating from the sun,
a dashing dog and a crying baby,
yes, everyone’s  having fun!

The afternoon is soon gone,
so is the sandwiches and tea,
everyone’s had a lovely time,
returning home carefree.

Met my husband on the 'lonely hearts' and have been happily married for 17 years. I have 4 little dogs, 2 Norfolk Terriers and 1 Yorkshire Terrier, and 1 Yorkshire terrier puppy (9 months) which keeps me busy. Where I live is semi- rural which is nice, but we live on the Grampian snowbelt so can be snowed in, in the winter!
