For You Mum, With Love x

For You Mum, With Love x

I never imagined, that on Mother’s day,
That without prior notice, you’d be immediately locked away,
So today I can’t visit or bring you fresh flowers
We can’t sit in the garden avoiding March showers.

This isn’t because you committed a crime
You’ve no criminal record, so that’s all just fine
It’s simply the community where you now reside
Is protecting you elderly from the virus outside
So like many dear folk with the scary news of late
You’re to batten down the hatches and self-isolate.

At least we can Skype and there’s also BT
We can chat away happily whilst drinking our tea.
But as you’re so wonderful and amazing at eighty-nine
today you must spoil yourself with sherry or wine.

So here’s a few words mummy, especially for you
To simply say ‘Thank you’ for everything you do
For being my wonderful Mum, for being the best
Even when your patience has been put to the test.
Thank you for being there, supporting all I do
Encouraging and caring, always loving me too.

You’re the loveliest Nana, that my children adore
If only we could hug you, behind that closed door.
So instead I’m sending a parcel, please open with care
As you’ll find that inside there’s much love waiting there.

Here comes a special message for all Mummy’s everywhere,
Look after yourselves now and take the best care.
Just hang on in there for all will be fine,
And once again we’ll sit in the bright warm sunshine.

With all my love,
Lellie x
