Frustration (The comical side of childhood)

Frustration

I am going to playgroup with mummy today
Just what I’ll be doing is not easy to say
Because I’ve got a teacher who is ever so nice
But she always insists on giving advice

I know she means well and she’s really a saint
But ‘I’ want to discover how ‘I’ work with paint
Painting with fingers and toes is the best
But she says ‘Put your socks on and don’t get undressed’

Oh I wish she would leave me alone

And when I was painting a monstrous great bear
With three sets of eyes and lovely green hair
She came to my side and said ‘Oh, what a mess’….
just look what you’ve done to your lovely new dress’

Oh I wish she would leave me alone

Then she’ll wipe me and wash me and scrub me all down
Until I’m bright red and look like a clown
And she’ll tell me it’s time that I played with the glue
(One of the better things she’s told me to do!)

Oh I wish she would leave me alone

If I just glue this here and stick that over there
And stop getting glue all over my hair
She feels sure it will make a great aeroplane
‘Cause she didn’t find out I was making a train

Oh I wish she would leave me alone

So I crept over quietly to play with the sand
Letting it pass from hand into hand
And just when I’m there in a world of my own
I discover she’s near me…..I can tell by the drone

Oh I wish she would leave me alone

She tells me I shouldn’t be picking my nose
And not to be wiping it onto my clothes
She pulls out a tissue and starts messing about
And goes on for ages, till I let out a shout

Oh I wish she would leave me alone

Well….I’ve watched her quite closely over this session
And I reckon it’s she who’s in need of a lesson
So with paint blue and red on finger and thumb
I practiced hand painting….all over her bum

Perhaps now she will leave me alone
