Gardening Day

Enjoy Karen’s very entertaining day not spent in the garden, but surfing the web instead with our Silversurfers community!

Gardening Day

It’s Spring, and I want to get out in the sun
In the garden there is so much work to be done
But once again the unwelcome rain has begun
So I may as well go Silversurfing

I really need to prune and weed quite a bit
And perhaps watch the Blue Tits as they all fly and flit
But by the window I am now forced to sit
Ah well, it’s more Silversurfing

There’s been rain with snow and some hail and sleet
And no chance to sit on my new garden seat
Can’t get out to hear the new birdies tweet
So I’ll carry on Silversurfing

The Daffs are bent over in the cold gusty breeze
I’m worried that my herbs will shrivel and freeze
No point in trying to tend to the trees
Here we go again Silversurfing

The new vegetable seedlings are wondering why
They aren’t in the open under bright blue sunny sky
The slithering drizzle on the window makes me sigh
So here I am Silversurfing

I may not be able to go venture outside
But my eyes have certainly been opened very wide
There’s all manner of things to warm and cheer me inside
As I sit here Silversurfing

I’m now comfy and cosy and with a scroll and a click
A world opens up through which I sit and flick
I am privileged to see what makes this community tick
I’m so glad to be Silversurfing

So my day in the garden will now have to wait
Even though it’s stopped raining, it’s now just a bit late
But my days’ not been wasted, in fact it’s been rather great
As I’ve been entertained Silversurfing
Yes, I’ve had such good fun Silversurfing.

I love to write the odd poem when inspired by some event or happening in my own life or that of my family and friends. I usually just write poems for my own pleasure, but I have enjoyed sharing a few of my efforts on Silversurfers and have received some wonderful comments from the community. I enjoy watching Rugby Union. I call myself a 'Hobby Colourist' and enjoy the work of the inky black and white artist Johanna Basford, and I also dabble in photography, in a very amature pastime kind of way.
