Hognapping

A poem from this time last year when Richard “rescued” a hedgehog that didn’t need rescuing

Hognapping

A crime in the neighbourhood
It happened in the night
There has been a hognapping
It really isn’t right

No hedgehog in our garden
I will grab a sack
I am gonna rescue one
And take it round the back

I put a little shelter out
Where he can make his home
It’s made from stone and rock
He’ll have no need to roam

I had him in my garden
And after the first day
He didn’t seem that happy
He’s trying to get away

Every time I go out
He looks at me with hate
I don’t know what his problem is
He’s standing by the gate

I kept him for a week or so
To show him who’s the boss
I accidentally let him out
He’s off! Like Stirling Moss
