I Could

I Could

I could be mopping floors,
or washing window panes
But sunshine is enticing me,
I’ll do them when it rains

I wish I could go dancing,
or have a meal with friends
But I’ll do my bit and stay at home,
until this lockdown ends.

So I’ll slap on factor thirty,
and soak up lots of sun
Get a tan, convince myself,
I’m on holiday, having fun

With a glass of cheap Prosecco,
pretend I am doing fine
And if that doesn’t work………
I’ll have to finish off the  wine

I have always written poetry but when my husband died suddenly I used it as a kind of therapy. I don’t usually share these unless I feel they will help someone in distress. The ones I share are mostly humorous intended to bring a smile in what I feel can be a very lonely world... I have written four booklets and now a Corona chronicles which is just twelve poems writ while I am in jail...oh sorry I meant lockdown. Am on my way for a second booklet.. Trying to make folk smile and take a minutes release from these difficult times helps me forget my sight problems..

Sadly I’ve just cancelled my holiday to Ireland, Just don’t fancy being locked on a coach with strangers for five days. I don’t drive re my eyesight but I would adore a paddle and walk on the sand. As I can’t swim would not want the water past my ankles

I should have been having been ambling along the seashores in Pembrokeshire at the beginning of June, as we had a cottage booked for a weeks holiday. Thankfully we got a refund so no financial loss luckily. We are in no hurry to arrange anything else at the moment. We shall wait a while and see how things pan out. Sorry that yours was cancelled, but probably just as well. Maybe by the time you get to go again your eyesight will be much improved.

Hope you get to have a change of scenery too. All scenes have changed for me as I can now watch the birds and squirrels through my windows

Life is going to be a bit on and off, up and down and changeable for the foreseeable I think. However, it great news that your scenes have changed and improved. Long may it be so.
