January

January

January brings no thrills,
Waiting at the bus stop chills.
Walk to the library is not nice,
Slipping on snow and sliding on ice.

What’s the upside of all this?
What is there to bring us bliss?
Getting home to warmth and light.
Toasting toes by the fire bright.

Winter drink and winter food,
Stew and dumplings, Suet pud,
Steaming soup and Toad in Hole
Buttered scones and  Jammy Roll.

We need this food to keep us warm,
And save us from the winter storm.
Lancashire Hotpot, Irish Stew
And at least two fingers of Tullamore Dew
