Laptop Shop

Laptop Shop

I’m supermarket shopping, I’m doing it online
It’s not the way I used to shop, but just for now it’s fine
Shopping from the comfort of my cosy living room
I’m part of the increasing online shopping boom

I can take my time, there’s no rush and I never need to queue
I can even take a comfort break if I need to use the loo
The supermarket aisles and shelves are completely people free
It’s really safe and easy, just my online trolley and me

I’m buying all the shopping that I used to buy in-store
There’s often special offers to entice you to buy more
I try to just buy what I need and not to go off list
But I often find that somehow there is something that I’ve missed

Sometimes things are out of stock, and that leaves me annoyed
Alternatives suggested often leave me less than overjoyed
Last-minute substitutions, made by pickers in the store
They sent a chocolate brioche for a steak pie once before

I can see just what I’m spending as my trolley quickly fills
Before, I never knew the cost until it got swiped through at the tills
If my bill looks high, why worry, I’ve saved on petrol, so it’s fine
I’ve got all of the essentials which includes a few bottles of red wine

The checkout is quick and easy, done in a click or two
And just before I finish, I’ll do a quick trolley review
That’s it, all done and dusted, delivery will be next day
Mark or Nat will text to say my shopping is on the way

I’m glad that I can shop this way, at the moment it seems wise
I’ve no need to wear a face mask and no need to sanitise
And I don’t need pound sized tokens or coins for the trolley slots
But I may return to in-store shopping when I’ve had my vaccine shots

I love to write the odd poem when inspired by some event or happening in my own life or that of my family and friends. I usually just write poems for my own pleasure, but I have enjoyed sharing a few of my efforts on Silversurfers and have received some wonderful comments from the community. I enjoy watching Rugby Union. I call myself a 'Hobby Colourist' and enjoy the work of the inky black and white artist Johanna Basford, and I also dabble in photography, in a very amature pastime kind of way.
