Loose Leaf

Loose Leaf

The leaf had led a charmed life since he first came into bud.
The warm Spring sun unfurled him, he loved life, it was good.
Then Summer came and picnickers would sit beneath the boughs,
eating ‘sort of’ burgers made from ‘kind of’ cows.

But then autumn winds began to blow……
it was surely not the end?
To wind up on the compost the gardener’s faithful friend?

But don’t you cry for him don’t shed one tear,
he still lives life to the max!
He’s working on the railways
He stops trains in their tracks!
