My Decision

Oh no, here we go again

My Decision

Last year I thought that things were bad
If I heard more ‘bout Brexit I’d go mad
Stopped watching news and reading papers
Fed up of M.P.’s stupid capers

Then 2020 came along
And I knew that I had got it wrong
Soon as New Year bells stopped ringing
Every morn was sadness bringing

So many sick, so many dead
I much preferred Brexit instead
Now although the plague has slowed
It can still visit your abode

Prices may go up, long queues at shop
Arguments could be non stop
This comes way down  upon my list
When I remember some, now don’t exist

When Covid won, and to our cost
Another loved one had been lost
Sort priorities out, show some intent
And cease this drawn out argument

Although  I wanted to remain
Let me make it very plain
After all the sadness and despair
I’ve given up….now I don’t care

I have always written poetry but when my husband died suddenly I used it as a kind of therapy. I don’t usually share these unless I feel they will help someone in distress. The ones I share are mostly humorous intended to bring a smile in what I feel can be a very lonely world... I have written four booklets and now a Corona chronicles which is just twelve poems writ while I am in jail...oh sorry I meant lockdown. Am on my way for a second booklet.. Trying to make folk smile and take a minutes release from these difficult times helps me forget my sight problems..
