My Plan

My Plan

We may be only in September,
But  this is the worst year I  remember
So much death and so much sorrow
Makes you dread to think about tomorrow

N.H.S. run off their feet
Friends and loved ones cannot meet
Not free to go about your tasks
On entering shops, all  must wear masks

Don them if you board a bus
When specs mist up, don’t  cause a fuss
You mustn’t touch, or dance, or sing
Contact with others, risks may bring

Hands sore by washing and I’m thinking
My livers shot, but not through drinking
It’s all that hand gel I am using
Tho‘ if offered wine, I’m not refusing

This Covid isn’t giving in
But by end of year, I pray we’ll win
So on New Year’s Eve I won’t go to bed
I am staying up instead

To make sure this awful year has gone
And wish for a better……2021

I have always written poetry but when my husband died suddenly I used it as a kind of therapy. I don’t usually share these unless I feel they will help someone in distress. The ones I share are mostly humorous intended to bring a smile in what I feel can be a very lonely world... I have written four booklets and now a Corona chronicles which is just twelve poems writ while I am in jail...oh sorry I meant lockdown. Am on my way for a second booklet.. Trying to make folk smile and take a minutes release from these difficult times helps me forget my sight problems..
