My Scissoration

My Scissoration

My hair has got much longer, the dye is growing out
Have generous amount of grey, of that there is no doubt
So as I am in lockdown,  I don’t really care
Besides I’m staying in the house, there is no one to stare

But my fringe is getting frisky, irritating vision
So picking up my pinking shears, I came to this decision
That if I lop it now and it turns out like a hack
By the end of iso, it should have all grown back

Now this evokes a memory, of when I was at school
I owned two straggly pigtails, which made me feel a fool
My mother would no get it cut and I  being rather wilful
Did my own scissoration , alas it wasn’t very skilful

Deciding  it was easier to just chop off each braid
The end result did fail to please, looked like my hair had frayed
So maybe it is safer, not to do as I had planned
But comb it into ponytail, secured with elastic band

I have always written poetry but when my husband died suddenly I used it as a kind of therapy. I don’t usually share these unless I feel they will help someone in distress. The ones I share are mostly humorous intended to bring a smile in what I feel can be a very lonely world... I have written four booklets and now a Corona chronicles which is just twelve poems writ while I am in jail...oh sorry I meant lockdown. Am on my way for a second booklet.. Trying to make folk smile and take a minutes release from these difficult times helps me forget my sight problems..
