National Poetry Day

National Poetry Day

I  went to school as usual
Moved quickly through the hall,
Twas then I came to notice
I was seven feet tall!

As I looked around me
It soon became quite clear,
That something very very strange
Was going on, right here!

“Good morning Mrs Easthope ”
Came a greeting, but from where?
Did it come from over here
Or maybe over there.

Then much to my amazement
My attention was then drawn,
To a group of five small children
Creeping slowly up the wall!!

I moved ahead so cautiously
To take a closer look,
To find that there right next to me
Was a huge, red book!

Laughter rang out around the hall
The ground began to shake,
Could this be a weird dream?
If so, its time to ⏰ wake.

It’s National Poetry day it is
That’s what the teachers say,
When you come to school tomorrow
Things will be the same old way!
