On being ninety one

On being ninety one

Now I’m reaching 91
I feel that life has just begun.
Don’t worry though, I’m in my prime
I’ll be around a long, long time.

But what to do? Well, here’s a twist:
I haven’t got a bucket list.
I’ve done the travel, that’s all over;
(Except a quickie Calais-Dover)

Don’t want to see the Taj Mahal
Like visiting a shopping Mall.
To fly a Spitfire? Not for me
I’m far more happy on the sea.

A parachute jump may be calling?
No fear—my nightmares are of falling.
So here’s the plan, this is my wheeze;
To do exactly as I please.

To read, play games, and do some art,
Some fancy cooking, bake a tart.
To listen to the radio,
And not go out in ice or snow.

Food and drink will comfort me
So will friends and family.
And basking in tranquillity
I’ll aim for my centenary.
