Pottering

Pottering

Time on our hands behind closed doors
To keep us going we tidy some drawers
Sorting through cupboards what will we find
Things that we’ve kept for something else in mind

Cleaning the windows and polish the silver
Pause for a cuppa sit taking a breather
Time on our hands to read that old book
Finish a blanket with a grey crochet hook

Pot up those seeds you’ve had for a while
Take a seat in the garden it brings a smile
Time on our hands for our hobbies again
Keeping us busy so we don’t go insane

Things we can do at home on our own
Learn a language or play the trombone
Maybe not rambling, cycling or fishing
For family and friends for those we’ll be missing

We wait some more and more becomes longer
Time on our hands to potter and ponder

My dad had several sheds and a greenhouse, each one full of stuff but to him all necessary.
Enjoy pottering and listen to the sound of nature

Thanks Diane, I am still lucky to have my dad at 91 years old and his garden shed is packed from top to bottom with tools and a million other things from the last 60 years!

You are lucky treasure all the time you have. I lost mine far too young to me and was completely overwhelmed with what treasure I uncovered on my sort out

Thanks Diane, I always treasure time its the most valuable commodity we all have (with health!). As I get older it becomes even more expensive!

Hi Diane. Having just read Pottering I am wondering if you have been following me around the house!
The only difference being embroidery instead of crochet which my grandmother in law tried to teach me but gave it up as a bad job. It was like you were recording my week so far.
