Rainbow

Wrote this remembering how upset when my three year old son was when he thought a rainbow had fallen out of the sky

Rainbow

Rain had stopped, the sun came out
Took three year old for splash about
Happy child and wellie clad
A puddle hopping little lad

Who stopped abruptly and bent down
His smile changing to a frown
Voice giving out a tender sigh
As tears trickle from his eye

There’s a dead rainbow I am told
And looking down I do behold
A trace of petrol reflecting  light
So with gentle words I put him right

It is not dead just having rest
So jump in the others….mum knows best
