Resolutions

Resolutions

I’m thinking resolutions,
I need to write them down,
And have a proper look at them
When I am back from town

I’m back, and there are lots of things
Written on my pad,
The fact there are so many
Is making me feel bad

I want to stop eating chocolate
When I am feeling low,
But nothing else can cheer me up
So that will have to go

To give up baileys coffee,
Which I drink every night,
I was given one for Xmas
to waste it, would not be right

I gotta give up snacking
I’m doing it through the day,
But I must keep my energy up
And that’s the only way

I need to go on a diet,
I need to shift the fat,
But if I can’t give up Baileys and snacks
There’s not much chance of that

I want to take up running,
I really need to train,
But I simply can’t be bothered
And I think it’s gonna rain

I have to do my yoga
Practice every day
I do it for a week or so
Then life gets in the way

I want to go out walking
I don’t have to go far,
I could walk down to the shop
But it’s quicker in the car

Stop watching so much telly,
Get a more active interest,
But I really can’t be arsed
I just want to sit and rest

I need to be more patient,
Be calm that is the plan,
But it’s really very difficult
When Richard’s my old man

And speaking of my husband
I should spend more time with him,
Everyone else has date nights
But that’s making us feel grim

I must stop looking at Facebook,
But I’m sucked into the trap
Of following my friends perfect lives
It’s all a load of crap

But it fills an empty minute
And I’m on my own a lot
So I guess I’ll go on looking
And allow my brain to rot

That’s the end of my list this year,
Each suggestion crossed off in pen,
It looks like I’ll be spending the year
Imperfect once again
