Glastonbury raps…..I wrote this during the riots

Rioters’ Rap

Saw it on computer….. be a trainee looter
I put on my hoodie….. met up with my buddy
So nothing would get missed…….. wrote myself a list
First you pack a brick……… helps you enter quick
Fling it through the glass……. then we all can pass
Some trainers for me brother……. a flat screen for me mother
And if it goes to plan ……… a walkman for me gran

Myself I’ll get a phone……. exclusive ringin’ tone
Thought it would be funny……. all got no payin’ money
Didn’t plan to fight……… when I started out that night
Police dogs can be snappy….. so I’m not very happy
I stand here in the dock ……. while that fella in a frock
Says for rioters you see …… I can throw away the key
You will stay in detention …….. until you draw your pension.

I have always written poetry but when my husband died suddenly I used it as a kind of therapy. I don’t usually share these unless I feel they will help someone in distress. The ones I share are mostly humorous intended to bring a smile in what I feel can be a very lonely world... I have written four booklets and now a Corona chronicles which is just twelve poems writ while I am in jail...oh sorry I meant lockdown. Am on my way for a second booklet.. Trying to make folk smile and take a minutes release from these difficult times helps me forget my sight problems..
