Road Trip

This poem conjures up some lovely views on a road trip through the Rocky Mountains, written by Irene Kerr

Road Trip

There’s something about a road trip
That conjures up a smile
The open road to conquer
New vistas every mile

Some music to sing along to
Include a snack or two
Don’t forget the GPS
To keep the journey true

Drive west from flat wide prairie
Towards the ocean blue
Through several mountain passes
Spectacular scenes to view

The Rocky Mountain sentinels
Never cease with their invite
To drive their peaks and valleys
Guarantee your pure delight

The snow capped pine treed forests
The fertile valleys spread
The sparkling lakes and run offs
Keep game and fowl well fed

See nature in all her glory
A privilege to see
A glimpse of elk or mountain sheep
Perhaps a bear or three

The road leads to the ocean
Approached eventually
Where gulls herald your arrival
An awesome sight to see

In planning your next road trip
Wherever you may go
Good luck be always with you
Happy trails be all you know
