She’s Frightened to Open Her Front Door

She’s Frightened to Open Her Front Door

She is frightened to answer the phone
For old age has caught up with her
and she is frightened because she lives alone
She does not have any family
and no one ever comes around

She does her shopping in the daytime
and when it’s dark she won’t go into town
She has seen so many changes
since she was a child
She has watched this beautiful country
turn in to something wild

She read the crime rate is rising
and that the government turns a blind eye
She lives her life on the edge
and prays that soon she will die
She would feel a lot safer
if the police patrolled past her door
but she would have more luck seeing Haley’s comet
for she never sees the police no more
that’s how thing’s  have got
because this country has gone to pot
