Shutdown

Shutdown

My flat for the old – we’re all shut down
Encouraged not to go to town.
No visitors not sons and daughters
Just carers, nurses, ambulance porters.

My online order is blocked for a week
The corner shop is what I seek.
My family is on staying home;
Don’t want to ask except by phone.

I need some bread can you get me some eggs?
Other residents still have legs.
They help, God bless them, old they may be,
Pulling together a community.

If I’m to be so much on my tod
I must have a serious chat with God
