Silent Tears

Silent Tears

Sometimes a memory slips away,
And turns into a tear,
To remind me of a saddened day,
When I lost someone so dear.

Sometimes a thought drifts into my heart,
Of someone dear to me,
And it turns from a dream of a time apart,
Into a watered memory.

It shows that my thoughts of you are here,
When the dampened teardrops fall,
As time after time, year upon year,
The treasured times I recall.

I keep these times alone with you,
I am selfish in that way,
And I will let the watered memories fall,
Forever and a day!

I know that you are peaceful now,
You often tell me so,
But still my moments do allow,
To let my teardrops flow.

God bless you xx

I am a 71 year old retired coal miner, who spent 30 years working underground. Having time on my hands, and in order to keep my brain exercised, I decided to try to write poetry and put down on paper some of my life experience, and my hopes, dreams and other thoughts. I also do a little gardening, but I am hopeless at housework. Much to my wife's displeasure.
