Simply the Best!
Simply the Best!
Why do other people’s mothers
Seem much nicer than my own?
They wear subtle pastel colours,
Mute their voices on the phone,
Serve nutritious home-cooked dinners,
Never stand out from the rest,
Wouldn’t dare to be successful,
Ask their offspring to be best
Why do other people’s children
Seem more normal than my own?
Never fussy over diets,
Want to please us when at home,
Do not argue, love their siblings,
Finish homework, read in bed,
Pay attention to their teachers,
Take account of what is said
Then one day someone felt poorly,
And I started to feel sad
That I had dismissed their value,
Thought uniqueness was all bad,
Whether parent, child or brother,
I would like to shout out loud
You are all amazing people,
And you make me very proud.
