Snap, Crackle & Pop!

Snap, Crackle & Pop!

I used to wake up in the morning,
recklessly jump out of bed,
Shower then throw all my clothes on,
rush down the stairs to get fed

Gulped down rice crispies and coffee,
hurled myself ‘thro the front door
Ran very fast to town centre,
feet hardly touching the floor

If someone ahead was a slowcoach,
I’d give ’em a look or a cuss
Quickly manoeuvre around then,
then deftly leap onto a bus

Decades pass…… now it takes a bit longer,
before now I have not confessed
On bad days it can take an hour,
and that’s just to pull on my vest

But I’m going to change my medication,
it’s WD 40 for me
I’ve heard it works wonders unlocking your hips,
or putting a bend in your knee

As I’ve problems with my trigger fingers,
loud creaks in my shoulders and hips
I’ll have to make very big batches,
no point in my taking small sips

So I’ll mix it all up in the bath tub,
if it isn’t that pleasant to drink
I could take a dive from the shower,
pray hard I don’t land in the sink

Immerse myself under the surface,
it should cover right up to my bust
At least I could say, at the end of the day
When I rains I’m protected from rust

I have always written poetry but when my husband died suddenly I used it as a kind of therapy. I don’t usually share these unless I feel they will help someone in distress. The ones I share are mostly humorous intended to bring a smile in what I feel can be a very lonely world... I have written four booklets and now a Corona chronicles which is just twelve poems writ while I am in jail...oh sorry I meant lockdown. Am on my way for a second booklet.. Trying to make folk smile and take a minutes release from these difficult times helps me forget my sight problems..
