Soft Kisses

Soft Kisses

Kiss me softly, as you leave me,
And sing again, your lover’s song,
Never pause, to sit and grieve me,
Let the glad times, linger long.

Leave a thought, that’s deeply planted,
Let it grow, within your mind,
Keep the love, that was incanted,
In the song, you left behind.

Keep your mind, an open measure,
Very often, take a look,
See the love, inside to treasure,
In your eternal, storybook.

So kiss me softly, as you leave me,
At the closing, of the day,
And take my heart, and never let me,
Never, ever, slip away!

I am a 71 year old retired coal miner, who spent 30 years working underground. Having time on my hands, and in order to keep my brain exercised, I decided to try to write poetry and put down on paper some of my life experience, and my hopes, dreams and other thoughts. I also do a little gardening, but I am hopeless at housework. Much to my wife's displeasure.
