Sorrow

Sorrow 

I couldn’t say goodbye
Pain so sharp it rips and tears
Its way through my heart
A pain I can’t share
The intensity of heartbreak
Ebbs and flows
A dagger of unpredictability
Piercing my repose

I wasn’t there to say goodbye
Numbness invades
My heart, head, and soul
Penetrating, as cascades
Of sorrow drown my senses.

I wasn’t there
As you slipped away
I couldn’t be there
With you that day
The darkest of days

I wasn’t there
And you have gone
I am broken
You left this world alone
