Supermarket Dash in a mask

Supermarket Dash in a mask

I’m really quick in Kritikos and faster in AB
the trouble is the mask I wear I find it hard to breathe
my glasses get steamed up real quick as I breathe in through my nose
I wouldn’t hyperventilate if I used my mouth instead suppose

I now miss all the bargains, for three instead of two
as I whizz up and down the aisles and sprint from row to row
and when I ask for Cheddar cheese they can’t hear a word I say
God knows how big the piece they’ve cut I’ll eat it anyway

I can’t stay by the toilet rolls, the soaps always make me sneeze
not so nice when wearing a mask, a disaster if you please
Glide back to back past shoppers, don’t look them in the eye
Don’t lurk by shelves if someones there, wait your turn to buy

I find I’m spending less and less in this supermarket dash
and they prefer to go contactless rather than touch cash
And when I leave the store at last so pleased that I can breathe
I use the anti-bac I’ve brought outside just as I leave.

I was working as a Teacher, Head Teacher and Teacher Trainer for a Local Education authority having spent many years before as an Interior Designer as Art was my first love. I am now retired to Greek Island and built a house on Kos having continued our dreams after my husband died of cancer. I am currently creating a Mediterranean Garden on my Acre of land and write about time and activities on a Blog and Facebook Page. I write poetry about my time and work in a Pupil Referral Unit and published last year. I continue to write poetry under the heading Expat Poetry. I write everyday under many titles about my Cats and Dog walking or trying to keep fit whilst eating cakes.
