The Circle of Life

The circle of life…

It seems just 5 minutes since I was wearing maternity clothes,
My waistline had disappeared and I couldn’t see my toes!
But deep in my womb a baby was growing,
The woman she’d grow into, I had no way of knowing.

You make me so proud, that’s an understatement, I suppose,
And now in your tummy, another generation grows,
Another little twig on our family tree,
And I am as excited as new Nanna can be!

Soon the fruits of your labours, will bring its reward,
A cute little bundle that won’t be ignored!
Love that little baby with all of your heart,
Because that’s how to give your child the very best start.

Hold on to that child’s hand for as long as you can,
Because before you know it, it becomes a young woman or man,
And then you will stand in my shoes and all too soon you will see –
Just what it’s like to be a Nanna to-be!

The circle of life goes on and on –
And will continue to do so, long after I’m gone,
For those future generations that I may never see,
You and your child are my blessed legacy.
