The Essence of Summer…

Summer, to me, means seasidey things,
Swimsuits, and sandals and vests made of string,
Kiss me quick hats and ice creams with flake,
Donkeys to ride and sandcastles to make,

Saucy postcards and walks on the pier,
Cockles & winkles and dodgems to steer,
Sunglasses, seagulls, deckchairs, and day trips,
Paddling and seashells and hot fish & chips,

Slot machines, candyfloss, bucket & spade,
Beach huts, paddling, the long promenade,
Gallopers, waltzers and roller coaster rides,
The essence of summer, beside the seaside.
