The Garden Centre Christmas Shop

The Garden Centre Christmas Shop

Trees of every size and shape
Some are real, and some are fake
Put aside or take today
Either way you have to pay

Sparkly tinsel and glitter balls
Long string lights to deck the halls
Wreaths of cones and prickly holly
Be ready to spend lots of lolly

Snowy scenes of Nativity
Boxed up cards for charity
Shatterproof baubles, some that flash
Methods of payment, cards or cash

Colour themes on every stand
No assistant to lend a hand
Trolleys and baskets there to fill
A mile-long queue around the till

Gift wrap with matching ribbon and bow
Table arrangements just for show
Oil defusers of cinnamon and spice
Lanterns, candles, oh what a price

Hand made chocolates full of liquor
LED lights that twinkle and flicker
Advent Calendars piled up high
So much stuff for you to buy

Snow globe shakers, fancy gifts
Last years stock they couldn’t shift
Fairies and stars to top the tree
Bells and balls, buy one get one free

Santa’s Grotto covered in snow
Reindeers red noses all aglow
Cashless entry, you might be barred
If you can’t swipe or tap your debit card

Stockings, sacks and luxury crackers
Gooey mistletoe, for those cheeky smackers
Garden lanterns and window stickers
Tartan socks and novelty knickers

Carol singers full of cheer
Festive shopping, it’s all here
Kerching Kerching, shop till you drop
At the Garden Centre Christmas shop

I love to write the odd poem when inspired by some event or happening in my own life or that of my family and friends. I usually just write poems for my own pleasure, but I have enjoyed sharing a few of my efforts on Silversurfers and have received some wonderful comments from the community. I enjoy watching Rugby Union. I call myself a 'Hobby Colourist' and enjoy the work of the inky black and white artist Johanna Basford, and I also dabble in photography, in a very amature pastime kind of way.
