The Park

The Park

Summer holidays over, the park takes on a different hue.

Trees say farewell to golden leaves, creating a crunchy carpet

And toddlers in bright wellies shriek as they play in the debris.

Now is the time for autumn dog walks, tails wagging, leads strained,

Lots of happy ‘hellos’ as the visitors meet and then move along.

Everyone smiling in the autumn sunshine, no thoughts of winter yet.

Yellow blooms bob in the breeze, adding colour to the sculpted flowerbeds.

Park runners stride out in groups, red faced but happy to be alive

And over at the café they’re bringing out the tables for afternoon tea.

Right away from bustling town, this place is an oasis of tranquillity.

Keep it safe; it’s a precious jewel and should be treasured.
