The Stare

The Stare

Does your mother have THE STARE
Constant worrying wide eyed glare
Her look could kill at a thousand paces
My brother and I show guilty faces.

Does your mother have that stare
Stern and warning worrying glare
The eyes say it all, harsh and hounded
Don’t look like that or you’ll be grounded

No joke, my mum her look could kill
Even when she was feeling ill
Her eyes were wide her mouth quite thin
Now we know what mood she’s in

Her look could kill I’ve seen it before
I’m quietly trying to close the door
Her missile seeking voice would boom
I know your in the other room.

The look was enough, I know that stare
It meant that I better beware
I’m on your case, you told more lies
She must be able to read my eyes.

The room so small no where to hide
My mothers voice was sure to chide
Spluttering words to buy more time
We know her words” you’ve crossed the line”

I know she thought she did her best
And now that she’s been laid to rest
I suppose I have the look like her
Just ask my kids, do I have the stare.

I am originally from Liverpool. Married to Philip. Although we had 4 kids I never suffered with empty nest syndrome. Love to travel. In 2012 we established a charity in order to give children from poor families in Africa the chance to gain an education. Lived in Egypt for 5 years,it's a very challenging country to live in, I particularly found it difficult to live in a male dominated culture, being a Tauren I have very strong opinions especially about women's rights and the way they are treated in third world countries.
