My poem for Remembrance Day

The War

If I fall please put my name on Roll call,
Be at comfort to know I’m safe and at rest,
All the lads that I stood with were simply the Best,
Violence and fear is everywhere,
Smell of Death men taking their last breath,
Bravery seeps throughout their pores,
Wisdom and skill to fight their cause,
As I walk this path I stop and pause,
Say a prayer for our souls when we enter Gods House,
Silent and free like a church mouse,
Self Preservation foremost to process,
Last Rights Read God Bless ➕
