The Wind

The Wind

Am sitting in front of a log fire
listening to the wind blowing outside
As my dog crawls under the table
in search of a place to hide

The wind makes my front door rattle
and all the windows too
But I just sit in front of that log fire
for there is nothing I can do

I think of those that are sleeping
inside boxes out on the streets
Am sure that they are all hoping
that this horrible wind would retreat

Soon the wind dies down
and there is a peaceful calm in the air
As my old dog crawls from under the table
and jumps up beside me on the chair
