Come and see me anytime

Come round and see me anytime, we’ll share a cup of tea
Yes of course I do mean anytime, you are always nice to see
Friends like you …..they’re precious, more valuable than gold
A smiling happy face is such a pleasure to behold
Oh, but best not call on Monday, as I polish tiles in hall
This makes them very slippery, I’d hate for you to fall.

Tuesday can be difficult for then I sweep and dust
As I know that you have asthma and your chest is not robust.
Wednesday is my ironing day, well that’s after I’ve done washing
Wouldn’t like to wet you as the sudsy waters sloshing
Thursday is my shopping day, well is since I’ve retired
Then throwing out the edibles whose dates have now expired

Friday is the hairdresser then posh cakes from the caff
Seems like my weeks are full, it really is a laugh
As for at the weekend……well…the family tend to stay
You’d find it quite chaotic, you’d think you were in the way
But do come and see me anytime……I am sure I’ll find a slot
It is really so important …….to keep in touch with friends you’ve got.

I have always written poetry but when my husband died suddenly I used it as a kind of therapy. I don’t usually share these unless I feel they will help someone in distress. The ones I share are mostly humorous intended to bring a smile in what I feel can be a very lonely world... I have written four booklets and now a Corona chronicles which is just twelve poems writ while I am in jail...oh sorry I meant lockdown. Am on my way for a second booklet.. Trying to make folk smile and take a minutes release from these difficult times helps me forget my sight problems..
