Adele - do you like her songs?

Is it just me who finds Adele's songs and singing downright depressing. I have to switch the radio off every time she comes on singing those dreadful dirges. Yet everyone seems to rave about her in the Media, the woman drives me mad.

Music is very personal indeed, some people like one thing others don't.
Adele is one of the most inspiring modern singers of all time. She has a wonderful voice, with a wonderful range, she sings about real feelings not ones just made up as a lot of people do for the sake of a song,,,,and most of all she writes her own songs... She is English and a good flag to fly in the USA and all around the world... she out sells most other artists around. We should all be happy to have such a talent.... Just my view of course.. I like to move with the times.

I agree with you cloudless13, she appear to sing from the heart.

Your entitled to your opinion but I love most of her songs. Maybe it's a gender thing?

Hi Mollflanders. We had an outside cludgie,we used to have to go down three flights of steps into the garden in the pitch black of night, and yes we had the nail on the wall where squares of newspaper were on the posh toilet roll holder (the nail). The san izal came at a later date,
I think parents used to pinch it from work (scandalous). We had to lag the pipes in winter as the toilet used to freeze. Our dad used to come home drunk and fall asleep in said cludgie all night.
My mother used to say leave the bugger there.

Music is a very personal thing and so each to their own. I like listening to Adele and have never found her depressing but maybe that's just me.

I appreciate that we all like different music, but I for one really like Adele, and my son bought me her CD for my birthday. Maybe I just enjoy being sad!

I don't know where newspaper came from nobody ever seemed to buy a paper(too poor).
I think The Bunty found its way onto the posh toilet roll holder one week.

Yes I agree Adele might have had a bit of a tough time when she was younger.
A lot of people have. Here is a list of how some of us were dragged up lol.
1.Outside Lavvies.
2 Izal toilet roll.
3.Tin baths in front of the fire.(if there was coal for the fire)
4Syrup of figs following said bath.
Nit combs and black derbac soap to wash your hair when your head was raw with the nit comb.
6.Having to have cardboard in your shoes in the winter when soles were worn out.
7my mother having to mangle wet clothes that had been washed in a dolly tub.
8No computers
9No telephone
104ozs dolly mixtures on a Friday night(that was it for the week)
11It was legal then to get a good leathering for being cheeky.
Can any of you add to this list because I could go on for ever.

You had a toilet roll Janice? My mam used to cut up the newspaper into little squares for us. I used to be up there for hours reading

I think Adele is a fantastic singer, but have thought many times that she hasn't managed to get over whoever it is she's singing about... and we all have to pay lol!

I think she has a fantastic voice although the words of the songs can seem depressing. At least you can usually hear the words (if your hearing is OK!)

I think she has a terrific voice but a lot of her songs are quite depressing. I heard she writes songs about her life experiences. She must have had a pretty depressing time when she was younger. I do hope now she has married and has children she will lighten the mood.

I agree her songs can be melancholic but she does have an amazing voice and stage presence. I prefer something much more up beat.

She has become one of those artistes with an exaggerated sense of her own self-importance.
She has turned into something resembling a kind of Cilla Black on steroids; I turn the radio off when she comes on now, she grates on my musical nerves!
