Anyone ever done a coach tour on their own?

Hi. I wonder if anyone can help me? My friend has had to pull out of a coach tour of The Canadian Rockies this summer. I've always wanted to do this and don't want to cancel the booking but I've never been on a coach tour before and never traveled alone (although I have travelled quite a lot over the years.) Part of me says that , at 54 and being a fairly independent lady, I should just say "What the hell" and go for it but part of me is scared stiff of taking this step into the unknown. Has anyone on here ever done something like this themselves and could advise me? I'd feel more confident if I had a clearer idea of what I was getting into!

I have done UK coach tours before. Generally you travel as a group and more often than not at least one or two people will travel alone due to circumstances. You will all stay at the same hotels as a group and eat/drink in the same bar/restaurant at the hotels. I imagine a friendly hello or maybe other ladies travelling together may welcome you into their groups sometimes. If your friend has cancelled due to illness you will be covered by your insurance (as she was your travel companion) But maybe you should just go for it and ask yourself what is the worst thing that can happen. It isn't a country where women are vulnerable traveling alone in Canada so hopefully you should be ok.

Unfortunately I don't own a coach.
But seriously. Go for it.
Your not exactly on your own, well not with 50 other people
on the coach.
Remember your camera. You'll have a blast.

HI Kim, I have done many coach tours on my own from NZ to US & Aus, all have been lots of fun, and I actually quite like to travel on my own now.
Most people include you in and you get to meet so many interesting people. Jo

It will be good to meet new people. I just have to get over the airport/flight/arrivals bit which is what I'm dreading. I think It will be fine once I'm actually on the coach!

I have done a couple of coach tours as a couple and on both time there has been single people, and I must admit these coach tours have the very friendly either on your own or as a couple. I think it because you are with these people all the time you all just mix in. If I was going away on my own I would choose a coach tour over any other type.

Thanks for your rely. I usually get on well with people . I think I was just worried about being a spare part if it's too "coupley".
