Anyone live in Leicester and fancy a meet up for coffee or a drink

Hi all I lost my husband recently and I am struggling to find new places I can go on my own. I do have lots of female friends but all my male friends are half of a happy couple. It is difficult at 70 to go into a pub on your own. Any suggestions what other surfers do?

Hello Kathy. I'm sorry to hear that you've just lost your husband- I lost mine nearly 9 years ago but I still remember the painful early days. It's like there is a hole that nothing can fill.
I had my dogs, which really helped. I also joined MeetUp which has groups all over the place....you can even start up your own one! MeetUp is basically an easy way for anyone to set up a group for anything....walking, crafts, coffee and chat or my favourite local group- Riverside Hookers- a crochet club! Check out your local groups. Often, people are members of several groups. Unfortunately, not many men seem to join. I've tried internet dating and I have met some nice chaps, but no one special. My dogs have had more success 'introducing ' me! 2 boyfriends from meeting while walking my dogs! Good luck. D x

I am almost in the same situation as you, except I have few friends but I have recently joined U3A and would recommend it. There must be a group in Leicester.

Best wishes

Hi Kathy, have you heard of a social site called 'meet up' ? It's made up of people who want to make new friends and socialise, you can list hobbies interests etc, maybe worth you having a look
