Are you having problems with your online grocery shop?

We've been hearing reports that people are having problems accessing their usual online grocery shop, either due to over demand or IT issues. We've also been told that some supermarkets are not allowing anyone else to register, so if you are not already an existing customer with an online account and you are self-isolating, then it may be even more difficult for you to get groceries.

Are you finding similar problems?

If so, please share how you are getting around this. Any tips from our Silversurfers community would be very much appreciated.

I am having problems accessing the Ocado website ... it seems to be permanently down and although I am lucky enough to have an order placed for this weekend, I am unable to edit it or make any changes that I need to make. I am going to try again tomorrow very early in the morning in the hope that everyone is still asleep!

I feel sorry for those who haven't already got an account and are now unable to register.

We are registered with Sainsburys, Morrisons and Tesco.
We had one delivery from Morrisons just before Lockdown, but have not been able to get a slot since.
Same with Tesco and at first with Sainsburys, but I emailed Sainsburys and told them that we are both over 70 and self isolating and they have been delivering weekly for the last 4 weeks.

My husband and I are self isolating, not because we're ill, but because we both have medical problems and are nearly seventy.

We both have online shopping accounts and I tried to book future orders right from the beginning of the Covid 19 scare. I booked one order for two weeks ahead and thought two weeks ahead would be enough. When I tried a week later to book another two weeks ahead the site was 'swamped' and when I did eventually manage to 'get in' the next available date was in three weeks time (that's 2 weeks from now). I ordered as much as I could from Amazon, but was getting worried.

My husband has been active in the local 'Save the Greenbelt' group and one of his friends there runs a small farm shop. He arranged a delivery for us and now we have a fridge full of fresh vegetables, plus some fruit. We should be OK for a few weeks, but who knows what is ahead?

If we had been unable to get more food our nextdoor neighbours had offered to help, as had the local church. Usually I bought a little extra for the Food Bank, but I haven't been able to donate for a couple of weeks now, but hopefully some local supermarkets will be able to help them.

I'm registered with Morrisons and have been trying for days to get a delivery slot - tried early morning, middle of the day and late at night - nothing available. Their delivery calendar shows dates from today until April 12th all unavailable so obviously some people are managing to book a slot. I'm lucky because I live fairly near to a different supermarket so I shall have to pick a time when there aren't many cars in the car park and nip in and out very quickly. I haven't been stock-piling and I love fresh fruit and vegetables.

I am registered to shop online but haven't tried to do it in the last few days so I am not yet aware of any issues. It's worrying though as we live in a rural area and its not easy just to 'pop into town'. and I know lots of my neighbours have supermarket deliveries. However, our village shop is in the local pub and this week they have started a delivery service from there to help those who are self isolating. Needless to say it's much more expensive than a large supermarket but I'm sure it will become more and more of a necessity for some.
