Are you worried about Interest Rates for savers and pension funds?

When I retired I thought that the interest from my savings would provide for little luxuries. Sadly my savings have been or are used for little luxuries e.g. TV licence, fuel, Council Tax.

When the currently working people retire they will probably be in an even more worrying position because every penny saved is wiped out by constantly rising living costs.

People in my position do not go and spend money on the High Street because they have no spare cash and cannot easily get abut pedestrianised town centres.

Even buses go to a bus station and not into the High Street.

Am I the only person worried about us and the younger generation?

I think the ‘lawless streets’ argument is a bit OTT....most likely all will go back to normal and by Christmas we will be back to rampant consumerism and will have forgotten it all happened.

I agree I have always thought the British are too apathetic for rebellion and riots. Rather have a good cuppa or a pint down the pub and moan about the state of the country etc etc. I do think when this is all over we will look a bit more carefully at life and especially invest more in the NHS. At least I hope we learn some lessons!

It depends how you look at things
We have already got lawlessness on and streets and in our parks by people sunbathing who ever thought
that would be a crime.
If things are anywhere near normal by Christmas yes consumerism will. run riot but surely it will be a time to celebrate for some and just remember it will be a first Christmas without a particular love one there's no normal and there never was.
We are all individuals living life the best we can and despairing of those who think they are above the law but consumerism is not exactly a crime only undesirable.

If I’m being positive I will hope that when this is all over people will remember the people who have passed and their loved ones, the heroic key workers and the kindness of ordinary people and the small good deeds that can make a big difference.

Yes of course. All our private pensions are invested in the stock market, bonds , equities etc. When the markets fall the value of our pension investments fall especially if you have a SIPP. We can only hope that it is not a long term fall as many of us do not have the years left to wait for a recovery. Even company pensions and state pensions will be frozen over the next few years to allow funds to rebuild. So yes worrying times. And if you are not worried, you do not know what's going on.

WE only have a few savings and so have not made any money for about 10 years. In fact it has all been slowly being spent but with what's happening now it pales into insignificance. I worry for the economy for all our kids and grandkids.

Not really as they have been so low for years. I keep looking at the stock market as it kept rising but now I am glad I resisted that one.
