Borrowing books from your local library

I was in my local library recently and the librarian was telling me about an app that allows you to borrow books through the local library. The app is called OVERDRIVE. She said the app is available to all tablets ...android, iPad, kindle, nook, etc. The only requirement was to have a valid library card. I am in the US, but I assume it is available there in the UK. I do NOT work for overdrive or the Library. I am just trying to share info I think will be useful to those of you with readers. Books are available to be borrowed for up to 21 days. Since you are doing this online, books are available 24/7, there are no overdue books or fines and it is FREE! Bottom line is check with your local library/librarian and see what they have to offer or recommend. Happy reading!

I’ve also joined our online library beginning of the lockdown as recommended by local radio. Like previously mentioned any ebooks or audio books can be requested on hold if it’s not instantly available. For those who still enjoyed reading daily newspapers, they are also available to read online. There’s another App - PressReader which is part of the online library. That’s really good & free of course, all the magazines all genres from other countries as well as UK.

I thought I would save myself a fortune buying books to read on my Kindle and register to read ebooks at my local library, but apparently only the paperwhite version is compatible, and mine's not that type so Amazon will continue to benefit 🙁

My first time on here. I live in Devon and belong to Devon and Dorset Library on line services. It is very good and completely free. Sometimes you have to wait for a book but there is a way to get in the queue. I thoroughly recommend this especially if your local library has sadly closed.

I think the library has some online books in Derbyshire, but I haven't tried it yet, I will have to look it out, thanks for the reminder.
