Brexit and Travel
Watch this postI am very worried about a brexit and holidays/travel, I have a holiday home in Spain and I dont want to have to apply for a Visa every time I go there. What is going to happen. It makes me shudder - I have done a LOT of research on this and it seems that there is a lot of propaganda from both sides. The brexiteers paint the remains as fear mongers. But it seems like the Brexiteers are actually the ones doing the fearmongering not of the risk but of the evil undemocratic EU. All false information after a few hours of research - the EU is very democratic, we elect EU representatives every year. My 2 cents is that even if leave wins, they wont be able to leave when they realize the sheer amount of reorganization involved - how much will the restructuring of the government cost? Significantly more than the cost of being a member of the EU - which is not even close to as much as the leavers claim its like a gym membership - the benefits are not financial - we feel them everywhere in the roads we drive on , the universities, the local regions. Cornwall alone has received over a billion pound aid stimulus from the EU - we don't hear much about that. I for one dont believe the lies that these politicians are spouting - especially the myth of sovereignty!!! What exactly is that? It is being misused and everybody is repeating the things that the leave campaign are saying verbatim - without actually thinking about it. Sovereignty is not something that you as an individual can have - it belongs the the nation, actually - Its something you bestow upon one single person to represent the ultimate power of a region. I would rather a group of 23 bureaucrats of the EU with their boring, slow, dependable way of doing things has my sovereignty than a rogue Nigel Bloody Farage... Or Boris Johnson. Can you imagine. Maybe I am just a liberal at heart - but I see so many of my liberal friends buying into the garbage that the seriously right wing politicians are dishing out. I am appalled at the lack of vision from the older voters in this country - I know some know it all leaver will have answers for everything I have just said - but its just an echo chamber repeating the same thing those sleazy politicians have been drumming into you. I am voting in.

I like Europe - but not at the expense of selling my country down the swany!
I will still go to Europe and do business with them but I am like many Europeans they do not want their identity wiping out by unelected Europrats that they can't vote out.
Also my NHS is National not International and I want our borders closed so that any elected Govenment of the day puts my safety first before the dreams of corrupt Europrats !
But free travel, cheap booze and tobacco have all been fairly popular reasons for folks voting to remain, fairly selfish but not many mention their reasons to stay, and I mean their own reasons not reasons given by the media getting repeated parrot fashion. Do you know when or why the EU came to be, do you know what actually goes on inside the parliament. Nobody yet has given me a good reason why staying is good for the country.

Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, Ireland and Greece have all needed bail-outs from the EU, now it's being reported that France and Germany are having problems. We have been threatened with no-one would trade with us, even suggesting WW3, loss of jobs - all the threats coming from the 'Remain' side. UK farmers paid not to plant crops but other EU countries could. Our fishermen could only catch the quota of fish they were told to and the rest thrown back, dead or alive! and then we have to import the fish in our waters that we are not allowed to catch.
As far as trading goes, we already trade with other countries, we are in the G7 & G20, the biggest economical countries, we are the the Commonwealth League of nations, our queen is the head. We like many of the other EU members are in NATO - can't see them allowing WW3 to break out in Europe. If there are threats of war from perhaps Russia, then we would join forces with our allies as we have done before.
If Germany and France stopped trading with us, we import more from them, than they do from us and think of all the BMW, Fiat, Citroen etc cars from these countries - it would be unnecessary economic ruin for them. Then there is all the produce from France and Spain - ruination of their economy. Nobody wants that, least of all, them.
Ridding ourselves of an expensive beaurocracy, would give us the opportunity to build up our own businesses, put the money where we need it most and still be able to help other countries - but it would be our choice and not something which has been dictated to. The EU lost £100 billion in unaccounted spending and errors and their own auditors wouldn't even sign them off. It costs £130 billion of European Tax payers money p.a. for the monthly shuffle between Brussels and Strasbourg. Our debt is the biggest it's ever been at £1.4 trillion, so how can we be better of remaining, if they can't look after our money?
And don't be surprised if they ban all flights from UK to Spain.Your options for travelling to Spain will be limited to train, bus or self drive, but be prepared to be stoned by angry locals as you drive through Spanish towns, and refused service in restaurants, bars, and filling stations, and to be given a hard time by the fuzz!
The Spanish have never forgiven us for the Armada, they have been looking for an excuse to hate us ever since.

Why would the Spanish confiscate dipladated holiday homes and hand them to the young...they have enough empty finished apartments left over from the boom and bust era...

Saying outers are scare mongering ,who are you to tell people wanting out that the EU is democratic and that people doing this have only based their views on a few hours research!
May I suggest YOU do some more homework and don't make sweeping statements about the outers as you certainly don't know who you are speaking to!

One Hundred years ago we were the most powerful nation on earth because we forcibly took away the sovereignty of more than a third of the world - that is something that we fail to consider and remember. The world is changing, the old England that you knew and loved will never be again.
How exactly do these third world chancers get into the UK? Europe is composed of democratic first world nations unless I am severely mistaken. before the British empire, the most powerful nation in the world was hungary, is there anything wrong with hungarians?
