Retired folk could be well utilised in further education/last couple of years of secondary school. Particularly for those who may have moderate learning difficulties, help them with CVs, show them how to fill in forms, role play interviews, all general transition stuff, school to work. We are wasted and the young are losing out.

I absolutely agree - this is my thinking. Many schools have no careers advice at all and in my job I see lots of young people who have no clue where to start. They also take rejection hard and give up after the first no reply as they are not used to not achieving - it seems that in school you can get a certificate for anything and everything and there is little competition so young people don't realise that applying for a job is competitive.

Did anyone watch the so-called celebrities looking at suitable countries to retire to? There is an area in Japan that has a specific employment office for the retired, brilliant idea. I would only like to do a little but to me working in a school would be ideal. In fact I may just drop a line to the local one now!!
