Comedy series, what makes you laugh?

Very many moments in comedy are side-splitting. Fawlty Towers scene when Basil bashes his car with a branch. I think it was called "Gourmet Night" when he is at his most super stressed.

What makes you laugh?....

MikeSt, there is a load of great British comedy, but Porridge is always the top of my bill. (Especially the episode with the rocking horse). Also Alan Partridge (on radio Norwich) is fantastic. I do like a lot of North American stuff, like Raymond, and Frasier, but if you are Canadian I'm not sure if I'm getting your back up or not!

My girlfriend and I enjoy Whose Line is it Anyway? I understand it started in the UK, Maybe it's still going on there. When I first saw it with Drew Carey, Colin Mochrie, Ryan Stiles, and Wayne Brady it was the only thing on tv that made me laugh as I was going through a difficult time. Now it still makes me laugh. I've always been a fan of British comedy, it's so much better than American comedy. My boss is British and we often talk about the old shows (Shelley, Mind Your Language, The Two Ronnies, Are you Being Served, Blackadder, Keeping up Appearances, Red Dwarf, etc.) and he introduces me to new British comedies and comedians as well. There's a focus on funny dialogue rather than slapstick humour and vulgar jokes. I like that. I know there's many I haven't seen, we don't get all of it in Canada, just some of the most popular. I search through the internet for more. I appreciate recommendations.

First of all...welcome MikeSt.
All great comedy, but speaking of American comedy, Big Bang Theory is really funny and very cleverly written.

There is a moral in this somewhere, women don't belong at cricket maybe? 😀 😀
Good to see Brenda and Timothy when they were young and of course very talented!

'Outside Edge' .. ah, great show, Pat.
Can't imagine why it didn't get shown here.
Doesn't need/rely on any great appreciation of cricket ...but part of the fun.
We have so much British drama and comedy, why not picked in the first eleven !!

Agree.....Dinner Ladies & The Vicar of Dibley both very funny.

The panel show " Would I Lie To You " is my favourite at the moment.

Maybe it's my sense of humour, but it has me in stitches at times.

One of my favourite shows too, Lee Mack and his quick-fire wit, I wonder sometimes if he is the same at home?

My wife and I consider "Dinner Ladies" to be the funniest show that has ever been on TV. The script is brilliant and the actors who were chosen by Victoria Wood were superb.

Hi Yodama, your music lists (and others in the thread) are phenomenal! Anyway, I don't know if this means anything to anybody, but there is a scene in Colombo where Peter Falk arrives at the scene of a car crash. The car has gone over a steep drop and someone is dead. The junior cop shows Colombo how to descend. He says 'this is the quickest way down.' Colombo starts to walk down, it turns into a run and he falls the last bit, before saying, 'yes that was the quickest way down.' It was all genuine and Peter Falk said 'keep it in.' So funny, watched it loads of times on Youtube.

Thank you Valleyman, thanks to everybody's input on the music thread, it is a pleasure to click on the links.

Peter Falk ( Columbo,) did you mean this scene?

Hahaha, yes very funny, haven't seen this one before.
He seemed to still keep his cool , looking up from the ditch "it's a little steep." Understatement.
