Day trips
Watch this postHi. All, I hope you have all enjoyed some of the wonderful sunshine we here in West Norfolk have been experiencing this week past. Now I would like to ask any of you that are now in your senior years and maybe have found yourself on your own having lost your partner if you have taken any day trips say by coach or train.
Of course this past eighteen months we haven't been able to take trips anywhere until quite recently however I am hoping to try this experience.
Any tips for a solo tripper will be very welcome. Thank you, I do look forward to your responses.

I have been on a lot of solo holidays by coach and have always had a super time. Most times you are allocated a table to sit at for meals so there are opportunities to discuss the day's events etc. Of course, there is the dreaded "single supplement" which you pay to have, more often than not, a room like a broom cupboard overlooking the dustbins but hey ho, you only sleep in it!!! My local u3a have a Travel group which is wonderful because I know most of the people on the coach, if only by sight not name, and we are picked up in the village where I live. I have also done a couple of river cruises in Germany which have been lovely as they usually stop in small towns/villages and you can walk round the sights and not worry about getting lost because the river is always near and then you can easily find your boat. Lochs & Glens do some wonderful tours in Scotland and they own all the hotels - I had the best single room I have ever had whilst staying with them.
Good luck with your travels and do let us know how you get on, Carole 🙂
