I've had it for about 20 years but it isn't severe, for most of the time I'm almost unaware of it, but if I'm in a noisy environment it seems worse. Sometimes it stops completely, but then starts again, it's like a hissing sound and it's just in my left ear.
You have to try to blank it out, that may sound impossible but it can be done.

Hello all, i am a new member, and I do have tinnitus. I am also a trustee of the British tinnitus association, would it help if I created a top tips for people with tinnitus? In the interim please link to the British Tinnitus Association Website which is jam packed with user friendly info on how to manage tinnitus.

I find it interesting that you suggest joining the B.T.A I did attempt to join and was not allowed.
I even went to the trouble of calling on their Head office in Sheffield, and was still not welcome.
As a trustee, perhaps you can give me the reason why. ???

I suffer from tinnitus, but it is not severe. It seemed far worse at first and I had difficulty sleeping, but, over time, I think I have become more accustomed to it and am no longer constantly aware of its presence. I have found low level noise (radio, tv or music) can help as a distraction when it is a problem.

I worked in a factory where there was a lot of noisy machinery and I have Tinnitus, it is sometimes annoying but it does not bother me a lot today, only when I am sat in a silent mood and then I can hear the buzzing.
I have had the problem for 25+ years, there is no real cure for this condition but to get out of the noise.

I don't, but it may be worth googling Gingko and lemon bioflavanoids as they may help.
